Key Facts

What: An innovative public charter school which begins in sixth grade and is adding one grade each year until we welcome a twelfth grade in the fall of 2015.  Our class size is approximately twenty-five students, with a student to teacher ratio of approximately 12:1.

Where: The school is currently located in Sunset Park within the brand new Sunset Park High School facility at153 35th Street (between third and fourth avenues), Brooklyn, New York.  We serve students in Community School District (CSD) 15, which includes but is not limited to the following neighborhoods: Park Slope, Gowanus, Sunset Park, Red Hook, Windsor Terrace, Cobble Hill and parts of Downtown Brooklyn.   

When: Brooklyn Prospect first opened its doors on September 8, 2009

Who: Admission is open to all students in CSD 15 first, followed by allotment of seats to other community school district students. Selection is made by lottery. Students register for our lottery simply by completing an application.

Why: To increase the middle and upper school options for families in Community School District 15
